Meeting Minutes

1. We reviewed the Quarter 2 progress toward our school goals as outlined in the QIP.

Narin Sinuon made a motion to accept the Quarter 2 report as a report of progress. The motion was seconded by Danielle Savoie. All members present voted in favor and there were no nays.

2. We reviewed the proposed Morey budget for the SY 26-27, including proposed cuts to present a balanced budget to the finance department.

Susan Uvanni made a motion to approve the proposed budget as presented and discussed. Megan Lohmer seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor and there were no nays.

Susan Uvanni made a motion to accept the Quarter 1 report as a report of progress. The motion was seconded by Beth Ann Armstrong. All ten members present voted in favor and there were no nays. One member was absent.

We reviewed the Quarter 3 progress toward our school goals as outlined in the QIP.

Danielle Savoie made a motion to accept the Quarter 3 report as a report of progress. The motion was seconded by Narin Sinuon. All nine members present voted in favor and there were no nays. Three members were absent.

We reviewed the budget cuts required due to the city cuts to the school department. To cut the required $69,241, we are cutting an ESL paraprofessional, stipended positions for parent liaison and webmaster and line items cuts to general supplies and professional development. If the money is returned to the school, we will use it to reinstate all of these items. Any other changes will be brought to the SSC. Narin Sinuon made a motion to accept the amended budget and Susan Uvanni seconded it. A roll call was conducted with each voting member voting yes. There were no nays. Three members were absent.

We then discussed upcoming changes to the literacy curriculum, what made these materials HQIM, and the need to rewrite parts of the QIP to accommodate the change. The collaborative planning goal was rewritten to incorporate the collaborative planning required to implement ARC. The engaged learning planning goal was rewritten to incorporate the implementation of HQIM with deeper learning principles.

Susan Uvanni made a motion to accept the amended QIP for Year 2 and Year 3, which was seconded by Narin Sinuon. All nine members present voted in favor and there were no nays. Three members were absent.

We reviewed the budget considerations from the Finance Department and the level-service draft budget from the district. We then discussed upcoming changes to the literacy curriculum and the possible need to rewrite parts of the QIP to accommodate the change.

Megan Lohmer made a motion to accept this information/discussion as a report of progress, which was seconded by Julie Roberge. All nine members present voted in favor and there were no nays. Three members were absent.

Minutes are attached in the Slides. We introduced ourselves and explained why we wanted to be a part of the SSC. We reviewed MCAS 2024 for the aggregate, our EL students and our students with IEPs. We reviewed the Quarter 1 progress toward our school goals as outlined in the QIP.

Julie Roberge made a motion to accept the Quarter 1 report as a report of progress. The motion was seconded by Amel Ahmed. All nine members present voted in favor and there were no nays. One member was absent.
School Site Council April 4, 2024 Budget Amendment
In light of new information, the School Site Council considered an amendment to the proposed 24-25 Morey Budget to reinstate the Math Resource Teacher to 1.0 with library check outs built into the schedule and to cut the second ML paraprofessional and $16,000 from general supplies.

Voting in favor of the amendment: Danielle Savoie, Susan Uvanni, Danielle Savoie, Ester Hernandez Lan, Sarahvy Noeurn, Courtney McSparron, and Kate McLaughlin

Minutes are attached. We began with introductions and reviewed of the purpose of the SSC. We learned about the different data points the school uses and reviewed our school goals.

We also would like to bring the issue of students learning isolated skills, but not transferring them in other areas back to the whole staff.
